A good question I’m constantly asked is: “what is my style?” My answer would be one
that is pretty true to life. For most of the day I take photojournalistic, candid shots. However, right before and after the ceremony I allot time for wedding party, family and couple portrait sessions, which are a mix of documentary and
traditional images. The method I employ involves getting people to walk into poses to give it a more natural look along with capturing candids of the groups playing around right before the actual poses. This gives the client so many different beautiful varieties of images to choose from. As far as coloring is concerned, I like to see the natural skin tones of the people I shoot in my images. That said I love a rich, milky quality with my blacks to give it a slight retro look but not overbearingly so. For a normal day I usually give my clients 500 to 700 edited images depending on the timeline. Ultimately, we cover the whole day getting tones of candids and portraits. Please take a look in my galleries to see examples.
I’ve been an Texas wedding photographer for nearly a decade now. The volume of beautiful venues in this town and the Hill Country is immense. Shooting locally is really a dream come true for all Texas wedding photographers. The two things that are most important to me when shooting a wedding are:
Showcasing the Couple: Every couple is different - some shy, some outgoing and some just laid
back. After years of working as a Wedding Photographer I've gained a real talent for reading and observing people. My job as a Photographer is to find the moments while you are enjoying your big day as naturally as possible.
Getting perfectly lit, sharp, gorgeous images is the other important thing, whether in natural light or using flash units for the reception. Being a tech nerd, I love this creative aspect of shooting. There are so many different lighting set-ups throughout the day that make this skill vital to the process. You don’t want to leave this important skill to a novice photographer, as the results cannot compare to real photography experience. Plain and simple, shooting weddings is immense fun for photographers and I take a lot of pride in my images and capturing my clients at their best.
